Background
The African Climate Foundation (ACF) is the first and only African-led climate change re-granting organisation on the continent. Through a combination of grant making, fellowships, transformational research, technical assistance, coalition building and advocacy the ACF seeks to support interventions at the nexus of climate change, and development that have the greatest potential to deliver long-term socio-economic transformation and inclusive development.
Purpose
The African Climate Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Consultant to support in the drafting of its organisation wide strategy refresh process, enhance information management within the programmes team, and contribute to programmatic strategy documentation. This consultancy aims to ensure that strategic planning is well-articulated, programmatic knowledge is efficiently managed, and complex information is effectively communicated to diverse stakeholders. This role will report to the Head of Programmes and Head of Strategic Partnerships and Communications.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Strategy Refresh Drafting:
- Lead the drafting of a strategy refresh document, synthesizing inputs from key stakeholders, existing strategies, and emerging priorities.
- Provide research support to inform the strategy refresh.
- Incorporate relevant research, lessons learned, and contextual analysis to strengthen the document.
2 . Information Management System Implementation:
- Design and implement an efficient information management system for the programmes team, ensuring effective storage, retrieval, and utilization of programmatic data and documents including a repository of key information that is easily accessible and available to the Programmes team and broader organisation.
- Develop processes and guidelines for maintaining and updating programme-related knowledge and documentation.
- Provide training or capacity-building support to team members on best practices for information management.
3. Programmatic Strategy Documentation:
- Assist in drafting and refining programmatic strategy notes, capturing key priorities, objectives, and implementation frameworks for different thematic areas.
- Ensure clarity, coherence, and accessibility of programmatic information for internal and external audiences.
- Support the development of communication materials that translate complex programmatic insights into engaging and digestible formats for stakeholders.
4. Deliverables:
- Draft strategy refresh document, incorporating stakeholder feedback and research insights.
- Fully functional information management system, with user guidelines and structured documentation.
- Comprehensive programmatic strategy notes, clearly outlining key focus areas, objectives, and implementation pathways.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience working within programmatic, research, or policy teams in philanthropy, international development, climate, social justice, or related fields is preferred.
- Proven writing and analytical skills, with experience drafting high-quality strategic documents.
- Demonstrated experience in information management and systematizing knowledge in an organizational setting.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it effectively to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Able to travel when required (for occasional in-person meetings)
Start date: Position immediately available.
Location: Remote working will be considered for candidates based in Africa.
Contract duration: 6 months
