ACEP Next Generation Resource Governance Leaders Program 2026 for Young Africans | Fully Funded
The Next Generation Resource Governance Leaders Program is a 6-month professional development fellowship hosted at ACEP’s headquarters in Accra, Ghana. It offers an exceptional opportunity for talented young professionals and recent graduates from Africa to gain first-hand experience and technical skills in natural resource governance, public policy, advocacy, and research.
Since its inception, the program has mentored several cohorts of young leaders, equipping them with the tools and knowledge necessary to influence resource management and public accountability across Africa.
Program Objectives
The program is designed to:
- Build a pipeline of future leaders in resource governance.
- Offer practical learning and mentorship experiences in public policy and advocacy.
- Equip fellows with skills in evidence-based policy research and analysis.
- Provide networking opportunities with policymakers, civil society, and industry players.
Eligibility:
ACEP is looking for young African professionals who:
- Are under the age of 32 or 32 at the time of applying.
- Have at least a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Political Science, Law, Economics, Natural Resource Management, Environment, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Are passionate about energy, extractives, environmental policy, and governance.
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential and commitment to social justice.
What Fellows Will Gain
- Full sponsorship including monthly stipend, accommodation, and round-trip airfare (for non-Ghanaian fellows).
- Access to mentorship from leading resource governance experts.
- Hands-on experience in policy advocacy, research, stakeholder engagement, and project design.
- Opportunity to publish articles and contribute to ACEP’s research and policy work.
Program Duration
- Six (6) months, starting in early 2026.
- Based at ACEP’s office in Accra, Ghana (residency is required).
