MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the Leadership and supervision of the Project Coordinator and working with other team Members, the Community Mobilization Officer will;

  • Provide day to day oversight and support towards implementation
  • Monitoring and supervision of community mobilization activities across implementation LGAs and communities, in collaboration with project partners, government and community stakeholders against intended objectives, targets, and timelines
  • Facilitate and maintain relationship with Community Leaders and structures such as core groups and focal persons
  • Contribute to the development of detailed implementation plan, workplans and budget during implementation
  • Develop terms of Reference and seek approval for upcoming activities
  • Coordinate the recruitment of community volunteers and facilitators in consultation with the community leaders and LGAs partners
  • Prepare  required periodic  reports in line with the mobilization activities
  •  Contribute to Carrying  out baseline assessment and community mapping
  • Ensure that EYN Projects works in Coordination  with  other partner agencies  and the government structures

Required Background and Experience

Essentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social work and Psychology, Communications, or related Social Science Field, and preferably Post-graduate University degree, in subject elated to emergency education.
  • At least 5 years post NYSC substantial experience in advocacy and policy development/research in the development context.
  • Relevant experience with demonstrated experience managing Emergency Education Programs, particularly in a humanitarian context.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing and evaluating gender-transformative social and behavior change communication interventions.
  • Experience in implementing gender-transformative approaches to education.
  • Good understanding of the possibilities and tactics for influencing decision and policy makers, politicians, donors, and other key actors.
  • Knowledge of the media and its role in raising awareness and shopping public policy.
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills and demonstrable ability to think strategically, innovatively and practically ensure achievement of desired change objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with wide range of audience at local, state and national level.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with partner agencies and key contacts in the government, NGO, Civil Society (coalitions) and media sectors.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, adaptability and ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to develop reports, plan and community mobilization strategies, tools and IEC materials.
  • Good computer skill (Word processing, spreadsheets, email/internet) and ability to be self-supporting in most administrative tasks.
  • Fluent in English language skills (written and verbal).

Desirable

  • Good understanding of strategies for achieving Child Protection, Psychosocial programming polices through participatory processes, and the links with gender, diversity and other aspects of identity.
  • Experience of representation, including Cluster coordination, and ability to represent effectively in external forums.
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated experience with gender analysis.
  • Commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability.
  • Proven capacity to supervise, train, coach and mentor staff.
  • Previous experience of managing a team.
  • Understanding local language.
