Key Responsibilities: Managing the Backbone of Humanitarian Aid
The Base and Facility Officer ensures the seamless running of MSF premises and assets. Your duties will include:
- Fleet & Movement Control: Planning vehicle movements, tracking individual trips, and monitoring fuel and lubricant consumption to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Overseeing the upkeep of MSF offices, residences, and warehouses. This includes supervising repairs to electrical systems, water supply, and general building structures.
- Technical Equipment Oversight: Managing inventories and performing routine maintenance on cold chain equipment (for vaccines), generators, energy systems, and IT/radio communications.
- Supply Chain Support: Executing local purchases, managing supplier agreements, and ensuring that stock levels for facility supplies are always maintained.
- Security & Safety: Implementing security measures for vehicle travel and ensuring domestic waste is discarded according to MSF safety protocols.
- Team Coordination: Managing the roster and performance evaluations for the security/watchmen team.
Job Requirements
Educational Background
- Required: A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical), Facilities Management, or a related technical discipline.
Professional Experience
- NGO Background: 2–3 years of experience in logistics or maintenance, preferably within a humanitarian or international NGO setting.
- Technical Mastery: Proven ability in fleet management (tracking and scheduling) and infrastructure maintenance (power, water, and buildings).
- Tools: Proficiency in computer applications and familiarity with radio communication equipment.
