LawAI Summer Fellowship 2026 in the USA (Fully Funded)

Applications are now open for the LawAI Summer Fellowship 2026 in the United States. This is a fully funded program available to applicants from all countries.
The Institute for Law & AI (LawAI) offers a paid summer fellowship for law students, professionals, and researchers interested in artificial intelligence law and policy. The aim of the fellowship is to train participants in AI governance and ensure that advancements in artificial intelligence are safe, ethical, and beneficial to society.
This is a 10-week, remote-first program, starting on June 15 and ending on August 21, 2026, with a one-week in-person session scheduled for June 22–26 in either Washington, D.C. or Berkeley, California.

About LawAI
LawAI is an independent think-tank focused on ensuring the safe and fair use of artificial intelligence. They conduct research at the intersection of AI, law, and policy, and advise governments, international organizations, and private sectors. As a fellow, you will be paired with a mentor to develop a personalised research project in AI law and policy.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to:
- Applicants of any nationality
- Individuals with diverse backgrounds in law, AI policy, or related fields
- Graduate law students (JD, LLM), PhD candidates, post-doctoral researchers
- Professionals transitioning into the AI policy space
- Legal scholars and researchers
- Prior expertise in AI is not required interest in the field is sufficient.
