The selected Research Assistant will support a qualitative assessment on the feasibility and acceptability of the integrated External Quality Assessment Continuous Quality Improvement (EQA-CQI) intervention. This assessment is aimed at understanding how key health stakeholders perceive and interact with this system-wide intervention for malaria service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Explore stakeholder perspectives on the design and implementation of EQA-CQI.
- Assess acceptability of the intervention among hospital staff, project managers, and government representatives.
- Collect practical recommendations for scaling, institutionalizing, or enhancing the intervention
The project will cover selected hospitals and agencies in Kano, particularly:
- State Malaria Elimination Programme (SMEP)
- Hospital Management Board (HMB)
- Healthcare professionals including laboratory staff, CQI facilitators, and EQA supervisors
The Research Assistant will support data collection primarily through:
- Key Informant Interviews (KIIs)
- Thematic content analysis
- Transcription and translation (Hausa–English)
Ethical standards such as informed consent, confidentiality, and voluntary participation will be strictly upheld.
Responsibilities
As a Research Assistant, your core duties will include:
- Scheduling and coordinating interviews
- Notetaking, audio recording, and transcribing interviews
- Translating interviews from Hausa to English
- Organizing and labeling field data
- Ensuring ethical conduct and data confidentiality
- Supporting general field logistics and documentation
Expected Deliverables
- Translated, well-organized transcripts in English
- Corresponding audio files
- Clean field notes submitted to the lead consultant
ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field
- Proven experience in qualitative research and transcription
- Fluency in English and Hausa
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality
