The program is designed to prepare future leaders in technology, innovation, and development, equipping them with the skills to transform their communities.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at ASU provides full financial support for selected African students to pursue a 2-year on-campus master’s degree in the United States.

Program Details
The ASU Mastercard Scholarship is a two-year, full-time, residential program in Phoenix, Arizona. Scholars will gain advanced knowledge in technology-driven fields while working part-time with the Baobab team to apply their learning in practical projects.
Between 2025 and 2030, the program will support 120 African students, with 30 scholarships awarded each academic year.
Scholars will also engage in leadership workshops, mentorship sessions, and networking opportunities with global peers and professionals.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of an African country.
- Be between 18 and 33 years old at the time of application.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree earned no later than July 2025.
- Have not started or completed any graduate-level studies before August 2025.
- Demonstrate strong academic performance, ethical leadership, and community engagement.
- Show financial need and commitment to returning to Africa to drive change.
- Meet English language proficiency requirements.
- Be willing to live in Phoenix, Arizona, throughout the program.
