Applications are now open for the WomenLift Health 2026 Nigeria Signature Leadership Journey Program, a fully funded, 12-month leadership development initiative designed for mid to senior career women working in public and global health in Nigeria.
This prestigious Leadership Journey provides a safe, reflective, and empowering space for women leaders to strengthen their leadership identity, expand their influence, and develop the mindset required to address complex health system challenges at national and global levels.
About the WomenLift Health Leadership Journey
The WomenLift Health Leadership Journey is a transformational learning experience that brings together women leaders from across multiple sectors within health, including government, NGOs, private sector, academia, philanthropy, and research institutions.
The program is designed to support women to:
- Explore and lead from their authentic leadership identity
- Strengthen confidence, voice, presence, and influence
- Navigate personal, organizational, and societal barriers to leadership
- Build systems-level thinking for sustainable public health impact
Throughout the Journey, participants are supported by a diverse peer network, experienced mentors, and professional coaches, while working on a self-directed health leadership project aligned with their career goals and areas of impact.
Program Structure and Learning Format
The Leadership Journey blends in-person and virtual learning experiences, including:
- Two in-person experiential learning residencies
- Virtual leadership workshops and learning sessions
- Virtual group mentoring sessions
- One-on-one professional coaching
- A self-directed leadership project focused on real-world health challenges
Upon successful completion of the program, participants become WomenLift Health Global Fellows and join a lifelong global network of women leaders committed to advancing women’s leadership in health.
Program Duration and Key Dates
The 2026 Nigeria Signature Leadership Journey will run from May 2026 to April 2027. Participation in all scheduled sessions is mandatory, except optional JourneyPLUS events.
Key in-person engagements include:
- Immersion Residency: 20–22 July 2026 (3 days)
- Lift-Off Residency: 20–21 April 2027 (2 days)

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Identify as a woman
- Be a Nigerian national residing and working in Nigeria
- Have 10–20 years of professional experience in public or global health
- Work in public health policy, practice, research, or leadership roles serving populations at the national level
- Demonstrate strong written and spoken English skills beyond basic or technical communication
- Be able to engage in reflective dialogue, emotional expression, and complex interpersonal discussions
- Be based in the West Africa Standard Time (WAT) zone for at least 75% of the program duration
