​Are you an administrative professional with a knack for diplomacy and event coordination? UNICEF Nigeria is looking for a dedicated Administrative Associate (Protocol & Events) to join their team in Abuja. This is a re-advertised position (GS6 level) for individuals who excel in fast paced, international environments and want to contribute to the protection of children’s rights.

By managing high level visits, ensuring diplomatic compliance, and executing seamless events, you enable UNICEF specialists to focus on what matters most: the children of Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diplomatic Protocol & Liaison

  • Official Communication: Act as a bridge between UNICEF and government ministries, embassies, and international organizations.
  • Travel & Residency: Handle the end to end process for visas, work permits, and residency status for staff and official guests.
  • High Level Visits: Manage the logistics for VIP arrivals, including airport transfers and scheduling high-priority meetings.

2. Event Management & Logistics

  • Strategic Planning: Organize internal retreats, workshops, and large-scale international conferences.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with caterers, ICT technicians, and facility managers to ensure event excellence.
  • Financial Oversight: Support budget preparation and monitor spending to ensure all events align with UNICEF’s annual work plans.

Who Is Organisation Looking For?

​To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education (High School) is mandatory. A university degree in Administration, International Relations, or a related field is a strong advantage.
  • Experience: At least six (6) years of professional experience in administrative support, clerical work, or protocol services.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with SharePoint or similar integrated management systems.
  • Languages: Full fluency in English is required. Proficiency in a local Nigerian language is a significant plus.
